An acoustic concert scheduled at the Plum Municipal Center’s amphitheater could be just the first of several shows at the venue.

The concert, set for Oct. 2, will feature local quartet Acoustic Union.

In addition to serving as a social event for the community, the show also will be a sort of gauge of interest as the borough hopes to make concerts a more regular feature at the site, according to Plum Manager David Soboslay.

Assistant Manager Jim Dreano said the event will be free to attend, and officials are working to draw amenities like food trucks to the show.

“It’s really just about bringing the community together,” Dreano said.

The amphitheater hosted its first show in November 2023 as part of the annual Christmas at Plum Creek celebrations. It can seat around 300, and several fire pits with benches are available for viewers farther back from the stage.

The amphitheater is located directly next to the borough’s municipal building near the Plum war memorial.

Acoustic Union vocalist and percussionist John Vento said he has played in Plum many times before but thought the amphitheater would be a “perfect setting” for his band’s acoustic set.

“It’s such a beautiful facility,” he said.

A West Deer resident, Vento said his band will put on a variety show of original song and covers tracks of famous artists like Neil Diamond and James Taylor.

He said he hopes the concert will lead to tighter connections among community members while also serving as a showcase for the amphitheater, which Vento called a “treasure” in the borough.

The concert will run from 6:30 to 8 p.m.
