A Cheswick man is accused of assaulting a baby after the 9-day-old girl was brought to a hospital in February with traumatic injuries.
Joshua Lee Sandusky, 24, of Beech Street, was arraigned Tuesday and accused of causing injury to the girl’s face and legs while the two were in a house in Plum.
According to a Plum police affidavit, the girl had two broken legs as well as abrasions to her chin, nose and forehead and was bleeding when she was taken to UPMC Children’s Hospital of Pittsburgh.
Police Lt. Lanny Conley said Sandusky changed his story several times when he talked with a detective. At one point, police said, Sandusky told them he set the baby down and was walking to get changing supplies when he “kicked the baby over onto her face.”
Sandusky is charged with aggravated and simple assault, child endangerment and reckless endangerment.
Sandusky was arraigned at 4 a.m. Tuesday. He posted $20,000 bond and is scheduled to appear May 15 for a preliminary hearing before District Judge Linda Inez Zucco.
