A Brackenridge woman is accused of hitting a man with a car on the side of Route 28, then fleeing with her 1-year-old son in her car.

State police charged Shakeira Ladaisa Hardin, 25, with felony counts of aggravated assault and endangering the welfare of a child and misdemeanor charges of simple assault and reckless endangerment.

State police said the alleged victim reported around 9:45 p.m. Sunday that he had been hit by a car driven by Hardin on southbound Route 28 near Russellton Road in Harmar.

The man, 28, was taken to Allegheny General Hospital on Pittsburgh’s North Side, where police spoke with him.

In a criminal complaint against Hardin, state police said the man told them he had an argument with Hardin at her home in Brackenridge earlier in the day, to which Brackenridge police responded. After borough police left, the man said he left in his vehicle.

The man said he saw a car he recognized as Hardin’s following him on southbound Route 28. He pulled onto the shoulder and Hardin pulled in behind him, according to the complaint.

The man said he got out and approached the driver’s side window of Hardin’s car, where they got into another argument. The man told police he saw the 1-year-old son in her car.

According to the complaint, when the man started walking back to his vehicle, Hardin hit him with her car and fled the scene.

The man was not seriously hurt, but complained of pain in his lower back, according to the complaint.

State police said they went to Hardin’s home just before 1 a.m. on Monday. Hardin said the man was lying, and that she and the child were home when the crime is alleged to have happened. Hardin said the man had damaged items at her home when they were arguing Sunday, and that she didn’t know where he went after he left, the complaint states.

Hardin did not have an attorney listed in court records.

Hardin was arraigned Monday and released from the Allegheny County Jail after posting $10,000 bond. She is scheduled for a preliminary hearing Nov. 29 before District Judge David J. Sosovicka.
