Boil water advisory lifted for Leechburg, neighboring municipalities
A boil water advisory has been lifted for people in Leechburg, West Leechburg, Hyde Park and parts of Allegheny Township.
The Municipal Authority of Westmoreland County issued an alert early Saturday that relieved a five-day boil advisory for the authority’s nearly 3,890 customers.
“We are pleased to report that the problem has been corrected and that it is no longer necessary to boil your water,” Matthew Junker, spokesman for the authority, said in a release.
Residents were notified on Sept. 11 that an issue arose from a water main break. The problem was repaired but another break occurred soon after.
The authority had a loss of water pressure because of the break on a 12-inch water main along Route 356 in Allegheny Township, near Northmoreland Park. The loss in pressure signaled conditions that could allow contamination.
Testing cleared the water for drinking as of Saturday morning, according to the release.
