Damage included a shattered window, marked by one of the the markers still on the building Thursday.

New Kensington police did not respond to requests for information about the incident.

Located on Fifth Avenue at Seventh Street, The Corner is affiliated with Penn State New Kensington in Upper Burrell. Campus Chancellor Kevin Snider said the incident happened last Friday night.

According to Snider, two women had gotten into a fight at a nearby bar. The fight spilled into the street.

Snider said he was at a nearby marina that night and heard the gunfire.

A total of nine evidence markers were counted along the Seventh Street side of The Corner on Thursday. The shattered window, low and near the sidewalk, had yet to be repaired or boarded up.

“Our campus community is thankful to hear that there were no injuries reported and that no one was working in The Corner at the time of the incident,” Snider said in a statement. “New Kensington police are currently investigating the incident, and we have offered our assistance to New Kensington police if needed or requested.”

Staff at Eazer’s Restaurant & Deli, across Seventh Street from The Corner, said police reviewed footage from their surveillance cameras and other cameras at the Fifth Avenue and Seventh Street intersection.

It was not known if police had filed any charges or made any arrests in connection with the incident.

Snider said anyone with information about the incident should contact New Kensington police at 724- 339-7533.

“Safety is a priority, and we remain committed to our partnerships in the city of New Kensington during its ongoing revitalization efforts, including our innovation hub and future Digital Foundry at New Kensington project,” Snider said.
