Arnold police arrest man on charges he beat, strangled woman during argument
Arnold police arrested a Pittsburgh man after a woman told them he beat and strangled her during an argument.
Naron Shamal Davis, 31, of Kenwood Avenue in the Perry South neighborhood faces a felony count of strangulation along with a count of simple assault.
Davis was being detained in the Westmoreland County jail in lieu of a $45,000 cash bond. He faces a Thursday, Feb. 2, preliminary hearing before District Judge Frank J. Pallone Jr., according to court records.
Police officers responding to a call Saturday, Jan. 21, for a domestic incident at a home in the 1800 block of Fifth Avenue in Arnold questioned a woman who appeared to have a black eye from a previous assault that had been reinjured, according to a criminal complaint.
The woman also had scratches on her face and redness around her neck, police said.
The woman told police she and Davis were arguing when he punched her in the face and head and choked her until she vomited, the complaint said.
The woman told officers that when she tried to get away from Davis he tried to stop her, injuring her arm and shoulder, and bit her on the forearm, according to his arrest papers. Police said the woman declined to be treated by medics.
Police said Davis was found sitting on a bed and took him into custody.
Court records show that Davis pleaded guilty in 2018 to two misdemeanor counts of corruption of minors filed by Arnold police and was sentenced to two years in jail and three years of probation.
He was sentenced to six months of probation after being found guilty in 2013 of a disorderly conduct charge filed by Pittsburgh police, court records show.
