Police have charged an Arnold man with 15 felonies after a teenage girl reported that he sexually assaulted her multiple times starting when she was 12 years old.

Scott Ellis Selinger, 36, of the 1500 block of Victoria Avenue, faces a preliminary hearing before District Judge Carolyn Bengel on May 25.

He was released from custody after posting a $25,000 unsecured bond, according to court records.

Tarentum police sought the help of detectives from the Allegheny County Police’s Child Abuse/Sex Assault Unit earlier this month after the girl reported the alleged abuse through the state’s ChildLine system, according to a criminal complaint.

The girl told county detectives the abuse began with Selinger asking her sexually explicit questions and touching her over her clothing.

She said the sexual assaults occurred multiple times and that he gave her marijuana to smoke, showed her sexually explicit videos on his laptop computer and engaged in video sex chats with other people online, the complaint said.

The teen told investigators that Selinger also took nude photographs of her and started forcing her to have sex with him, the complaint said.

She described Selinger as a “very large man” and told police that she was afraid to say no to his advances. She said he told her they both would be in trouble if she said anything, according to his arrest papers.

The girl told detectives that the last time Selinger abused her was in November 2019 when he took her to a motel near New Kensington.
