Arnold food truck event returning for 1st full year
A food truck event held once in Arnold late last year is coming back this month, with monthly dates scheduled through October.
The first of five Arnold community events will be held from 3 to 9 p.m. June 26 in a lot at 1701 Fifth Ave. Future dates — all Sundays — are July 17, Aug. 14, Sept. 25 and Oct. 30.
Thirteen food trucks and vendors are expected to be at the first event: Kona Ice, Little C’s Concessions, Cool Beans Taco, Haus’s BBQ, Wok on Wheels, Lynette’s Mad Custom Cakes, PGH Crepes, Arnold Fire Department No. 1, Sweet Tooth Baking, Bygone Wines, Fat Cat Subs, On a Roll Catering and Sweets for the Street Ice Cream.
The event, organized by Arnold resident Jamie Cutler, was held for the first time Nov. 6 in the lot owned by Mayor Joe Bia and other investors.
Cutler’s motivation was to do something good for the community that would lift spirits that were down from the covid-19 pandemic. A farmers market was her first idea, but she went with a food truck event after that proved too difficult to pull off.
“It went over really well,” Cutler said. “The mayor asked me to do it again this year. A lot of people were asking about it.”
Bia said he’s happy Cutler is putting the events together for the community again this year.
“Who wants to cook for themselves on a Sunday?” he said. “It’s a great way to relax on a Sunday evening before getting back at it on Monday morning. The variety of vendors have something for everyone.”
Cutler is hoping for good weather for each date.
“I just want everybody to get together like we did last year, socialize, laugh and enjoy the food,” she said.
