Argonne Drive in Harrison has reopened after several weeks closed for construction. Part of the road still is restricted to single lanes.

Argonne Drive in Harrison has reopened to traffic after being shut down in early July.

The busy road connects Freeport Road near Highlands Middle School to Ash Street near the railroad tracks in Natrona.

Work finished up earlier than expected — the road was scheduled to be off-limits until September.

A small work zone remains along the lower portion of the road where motorists can expect single-lane restrictions for about a half-mile before Federal Street.

Minor stoppages are expected.

Flaggers are in place to control traffic flow.

The work is part of a $3.9 million project by the Allegheny County Department of Public Works. It includes paving, drainage and sidewalk repairs.

The work is being done by A. Folino Construction Inc., of Oakmont.

Traffic restrictions will remain until late August.

Anyone who wants to avoid the construction zone can take Freeport Road to Springhill Road and then turn on North Canal, Federal and Vine streets.
