Linda Cook’s idea of fun is celebrating with new and old friends and raising money to help others.

Her fourth annual Halloween party will be held from 5 to 9 p.m. Oct. 5, at the Fraternal Order of Eagles along Freeport Road in New Kensington, but the beneficiary is different this year.

“We want to raise money for the Shriners hospitals,” said Cook, 37, of New Kensington.

There will be music, a costume contest, games, raffles, food, door prizes and treat bags, Cook said.

Cook’s mother Maureen Cook, who is helping with the plans as she has for the past four years, said costumes aren’t required.

The donation is $10 per person.

All proceeds will go to Shriners Hospitals for Children.

Last year, about $1,500 was raised for UPMC Children’s Hospital of Pittsburgh, according to Maureen Cook.

The Eagles will again make one of its rooms available for partygoers.
