An Allegheny Township woman was killed in a two-vehicle crash on Route 66 on Thursday morning.
The crash victim was identified as Brooke Moyle, 20.
The Westmoreland County Coroner’s Office said she was pronounced dead at the scene. Her death, which was ruled an accident, was attributed to blunt force trauma to the head.
The crash occurred about 6:30 a.m. in Washington Township.
The coroner’s office reported Moyle was driving north in a Mercury Mariner when her vehicle crossed the center line while rounding a right curve and collided head-on with a Jeep Cherokee that was headed in the opposite direction.
Washington Township police are investigating the crash, which closed all lanes along a section of Route 66 south for hours. About a mile of the road between Kiski Park Drive and the Route 380 interchange at Pleasant Valley Drives was closed.
Several people were transported to local hospitals for treatment of injuries they suffered in the crash, according to the Westmoreland County 911 center.
No information was available on the condition of those patients.
Township officers reached Thursday night said there was no further information to release.
