The Allegheny Township Community Building is at 136 Community Building Road.

Allegheny Township officials have updated the community’s website.

The website had not been updated for about a decade, according to township Manager Greg Primm.

“It was updated with content, just not as often as it could have been,” Primm said.

A new online feature for residents is a link to a complaint form. The link can be found here or at alleghenytownship.net.

Residents must fill out a complaint form before township personnel can investigate any concern.

Joyce Hanz | Tribune-Review A new complaint form is available for Allegheny Township residents on the township’s updated website at alleghenytownship.net.

Forms can be printed from the link on the website or obtained from the township office at 136 Community Building Road.

“We plan to eventually make many of our forms available for completion online,” Korns said. “The complaint form could be completed online as long as there are protections in place to ensure the complaint is valid and not prone to malicious or frivolous entries.”

Korns said he’s pleased with the new website design.

“It’s much easier to update than our previous content management system. In my experience, the key to attracting and keeping visitors to the website is having fresh content,” he said.

Korns plans to update the website on a regular basis.

The office is open from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Mondays through Fridays.

Only verified complaints will be considered valid for formal investigation, the website states.

The website upgrade cost $4,500.

The township contracted with GovUnity to create the new site, Primm said.

GovUnity is a municipal website design company that creates easy-to-navigate government websites. It has developed websites for the many entities, including the Allegheny County District Attorney’s Office, Harrison, Oakmont, East Deer, Robinson and Penn Township.

The website has numerous links, including to a zoning map, historical sites, FAQs, public records request, township news, boards and commissions, agendas and minutes from township meetings, polling locations, Kiski Area School District, waste collection, district court, police, fire, emergency management, zoning and code enforcement.

Residents can sign up to receive text alerts on important township-related announcements on the site.

Several township employees have been trained to update their sections.

Supervisor Mike Korns spearheaded the website project and is regularly providing updates to the site.

Supervisor James Morabito has advocated for a new website for months and is hopeful residents will take advantage of the new online tool to stay informed.

“I hope all residents find the new website informative and very helpful to get the information they’re looking for,” Morabito said.
