Vehicles traveling Milltown Road in Plum pass through a temporary stop sign Wednesday. PennDOT is closing the road for slide repairs beginning Monday.

Another road in Plum is closing for slide repair.

PennDOT announced Thursday that Milltown Road between Shearer and Barnes roads will close at 7 a.m. Monday and remain closed through late September.

Crews from A. Liberoni will be fixing three separate slides within the roughly mile stretch of Milltown, said Rich Schwartz, a project manager with the company.

One slide is blocked by jersey barriers, restricting the two-lane road to one lane controlled by stop signs.

The road is scheduled to be closed for 55 days, Schwartz said.

Traffic will be detoured.

Milltown is the fourth road to recently close in Plum to fix slides. The others are New Texas, Leechburg and Old Leechburg roads.

New Texas closed between Old Leechburg Road and Rosemary Drive on May 30 and reopened July 3.

Leechburg Road, near Elicker Road, closed July 5. It is expected to open by 5 p.m. Friday, PennDOT spokesman Steve Cowan said.

Old Leechburg Road closed July 11 between Sardis and Old Mine roads and initially was expected to reopen July 21. On Friday, Cowan said the closure had been extended until Wednesday.
