Penn Hills police established a perimeter around Dollman and Mount Carmel roads and began searching the area around 10 p.m. Friday after responding to a call for shots fired, according to police Chief Howard Burton.

Burton said officers initiated the search when they arrived at the scene and believed that “someone may have taken a shot at them.”

The search was continuing an hour later in the area where homes are separated by wooded terrain.

Burton said there was no report of anyone being injured.
