Traffic crossover to begin on Ardmore Boulevard in Forest Hills
A 1-mile stretch of Ardmore Boulevard in Forest Hills will be the site of road work for the next several months, prompting traffic changes that are set to begin Friday evening.
Eastbound traffic on Route 30 will be reduced to one lane and directed onto the westbound side of the highway between Lafayette and Fairfax roads, according to PennDOT officials. The crossover will allow crews to reconstruct culverts and relocate utility lines.
The change is expected to begin at 7 p.m. and run through mid-July. Westbound traffic also will be reduced to one lane. There will not be access to several side streets from that stretch of Ardmore Boulevard, including Bevington, Leola and Fairfax roads and Centurion Drive. Filmore and Braddock roads are being used as detours.
Once that work is completed, a similar crossover will take place for westbound traffic.
The work is part of a $13.7 million project being performed by Joseph B. Fay Company. The project improves a 2-mile section of Routes 8 and 30 between Yost Boulevard in Forest Hills and Brinton Road in Wilkinsburg, near the Parkway East interchange.
That work is set to include culvert replacements, paving, accessible curb ramps and drainage improvements, among other tasks. The project is expected to be completed later next year.
