A 17-year-old boy was hospitalized in critical but stable condition Thursday morning after being shot in Pittsburgh’s Sheraden neighborhood, Pittsburgh police said.

The victim, who was not identified, was found with a gunshot wound that went through his body after being notified of a gunshot being fired at about 6:40 a.m. in the 3100 block of Ashlyn Street.

Medics transported the teenager to a hospital. A firearm was recovered in the area of the shooting, police said.

The investigation is ongoing.
