Teen fight shatters hair salon window in Downtown Pittsburgh
A window of a hair salon in Downtown Pittsburgh was shattered Wednesday during a fight between teenagers, according to Tribune-Review news partner WPXI.
“It’s awful,” Joe Cardamone, owner of Cardamone’s Hair Salon on Forbes Avenue, told WPXI. “The kids were arguing out front here. We were in here working with our clients, then a fight broke out then someone went through a window.”
He said glass pieces went flying and were left on the salon floor, leaving the business with a boarded-up window.
“It felt like a bomb came through here,” Cardamone told WPXI. “Some clients left. They were uncomfortable.”
WPXI reports that Pittsburgh Police broke up the fight, and cited two teen males for disorderly conduct and criminal mischief.
Cardamone, who has been in business for since 1977, said students are becoming more unruly after school and things are getting out of hand. He said he’s never seen violence like this during his decades in business.
“I don’t know what the answer is. I’d say go home,” he told WPXI.
In 2020, Cardamone’s was damaged by protesters demonstrating in response to the death of George Floyd.
During that incident, protesters smashed windows of Cardomone’s and damaged equipment.
