State police have secured a warrant for a Homestead man they say drove the wrong way up a Parkway East ramp Friday morning, hitting both a vehicle and pedestrian before fleeing on foot.

Police said troopers were monitoring traffic at the Forward Avenue on-ramp to I-376 around 9:40 a.m. Friday morning when a white Ford Focus stopped on the ramp before turning around and driving back up the wrong way.

Police said during the illegal maneuver, the car’s driver struck another vehicle but kept going.

Troopers followed the Focus from Forward to Murray Avenue, where it crossed into the oncoming lane and drove onto the sidewalk while making a turn. Once on the sidewalk, police said the car struck both a street sign and a pedestrian. The driver, whom they identified as Anthony Michael Doria, 35, of Homestead, fled on foot.

The pedestrian was given first aid at the scene and was taken to UPMC Mercy Hospital. Additional information on their condition was not immediately available.

Doria was charged with aggravated assault by vehicle, fleeing police, accident causing personal injury, reckless endangering and nine traffic violations.
