The Bagel Factory, a deli in Squirrel Hill, was hit with a consumer alert following an inspection by the Allegheny County Health Department.

The report identified several high-risk violations, including the presence of rodent droppings on food contact surfaces within storage and hallway areas, marking a repeat offense. Additionally, inspectors discovered two live mice in a glue trap within the bakery.

Further concerns arose with nesting material found behind the ice machine and display cases, alongside rodent droppings scattered throughout the eatery.

Medium-risk violations noted in the inspection report included cream cheese being stored at unsafe temperatures and the discovery of a can of aerosol fly bait behind the ice machine.

The health department inspected the deli on Forbes Avenue on Friday, and will re-inspect it on May 20.
