Andrew Reilly Memorial Park in Jefferson Hills will soon be bustling with businesses and folks eager to stimulate the economy through a new borough event.

The Jefferson Hills Recreation Initiative’s inaugural Night Markets kicks off Thursday, May 27.

It’s scheduled every Thursday from 5-8 p.m. through July 29 at the park off Route 885. Admission and parking is free.

Event organizer Ashley Delgado said she is hoping for large crowds throughout the 10-week run.

“We thought this would give people something inexpensive to do on a weeknight,” she said. “I think it’s going to be really great. The world has been inside for a year and everybody’s’ looking to get outside.

”People who have small businesses are dying to get out, and vendors are dying to sell. … We have this beautiful park, and we don’t utilize it for anything other than sports.”

Masks are required for vendors and participants unless otherwise noted. People are asked to socially distance and vendor tents will be at least 6 feet apart. Hand sanitizing stations will be available.

“We’re going to do everything that we can to the best of our ability with our resources to make sure everyone’s safe,” Delgado said.

Some of the vendors include Wine O’Clock Somewhere Winery, Truss Brewing, Sabatellos Bakery, Steel Lotus Gift Shop, Sonny Rose Ranch, Fireball BBQ Co., BZB Candles, D&D Stone Co., Pleasant Hills Rotary, Color Street, Mary Kay Cosmetics, KG & That Design and Garment Goddess.

About 25 vendors — not including food vendors — are expected to be on hand at each market.

“It’s going to be a different variety of vendors each week,” Delgado said. “We have way more interest that we thought we were going to have.”

The recreation initiative also runs the summer concert series in the park.

Concerts start Friday, May 28 at 7 p.m. with country singers The Steel Blossoms. Rockers Chain Reaction is slated to perform at 2 p.m. on June 12 and The Scenic Route rounds out the series with a show at 7 p.m. on July 30.

Admission and parking is free. Food and drink will be available for purchase.
