AJ Kavinsky, a second-grade teacher at Whitehall Elementary, puts together a sign for one of Baldwin High School’s graduating seniors at The Alden South Hills apartment complex. Kavinsky was one of several Baldwin-Whitehall School District staff and faculty members who volunteered to help place signs in front of the homes of graduating seniors.

Graduating seniors woke up to a surprise Tuesday morning as Baldwin-Whitehall School District staff, faculty and community members placed signs in each one of their yards.

The purple and white signs each featured a senior’s first name and the hashtags #seniorstrong and #allinthistogether. Many also included the student’s senior picture.

“As we are all aware, our students are missing numerous milestone moments in their senior year when they abruptly realized that their days of walking the halls of Baldwin High School had come to an end,” Superintendent Dr. Randal Lutz said in a release. His daughter Jenna is part of the 2020 senior class.

The volunteers worked from about 8:30 a.m. to noon installing the signs.
