A street sweeper got stuck in a sinkhole that formed in Shaler Plaza on Feb. 25, 2021.

A sinkhole partially swallowed a street sweeper in Shaler Plaza early Thursday, according to Tribune-Review news partner WPXI.

Roads have since reopened in the area where a waterline break happened about 2 a.m. and caused water to gush along Butler Street and Saxonburg Boulevard.

The street sweeper was in a private lot near the plaza entrance when it got eaten by the sinkhole. The truck has been removed.

It was just more than a year ago when a sinkhole along 10th and Penn avenues in Pittsburgh swallowed the back end of a Port Authority bus, a situation that played out for months and spawned “Sinkhole Bus” memes, jokes and even Halloween costumes months later.

In that case, a crane was called in to lift the 14-ton bus from the 60-foot section of crumbled roadway.
