Set in the picturesque garden of a private residence, the volunteer-run 2022 Taste of Sewickley on Sept. 10 treated guests to a one-of-a-kind gourmet meal — and raised $97,000 for KidsVoice in the process.

More than 30 local volunteers came together to plan, cook and serve the multi-course dinner inspired by Spanish cuisine to 80 guests.

The much-anticipated annual event is co-hosted by Sewickley residents Chuck and Barb Moser and Greg and Susan Kaminski. Chuck and Greg are board members at KidsVoice, a nonprofit that provides legal advocacy for Allegheny County children and youth in cases of abuse and neglect.

“We can’t thank the Mosers and Kaminskis enough for spearheading Taste of Sewickley, as well as all of the volunteer chefs and servers who make it a treasured — and delicious — annual tradition,” said Scott Hollander, executive director of KidsVoice. “It’s exciting to see what the chefs put together each year to help KidsVoice make a difference in the lives of abused and neglected children. And it’s clear that guests agree. The event has sold out every year!”

Each year, the meal is inspired by a different regional cuisine. In past years, the amateur chefs have taken on Italian, Mexican and Southern fare. This year’s Spanish theme included refreshing gazpacho, savory shrimp in a garlic-infused oil, traditional potato tortillas, steak with chimichurri, paella and more. Spain’s version of crème brulée, crema catalana, was served for dessert.

Accompanying dinner was a selection of paired wines and hand selected beverages. Live music was provided by Ray Clause, playing on a recently restored 100-year-old Steinway piano.
