St. James School rolled out the blue carpet for its students on the first day of school on Aug. 25, and followed that up with its traditional Blue Carpet Reception.
Students gathered in the parking lot for about a half hour before school started to catch up with each other. Principal Sean Murray welcomed students, and then they said a prayer and the Pledge of Allegiance.
“After the official welcome, students enter the building by grade to applause and sweet farewells by loved ones,” said Anne Gabor, of the Divine Redeemer Parish. “After sending off their student(s), parents and younger siblings are welcomed to the Gathering Space to enjoy a continental breakfast together at the Blue Carpet Reception. The first day was a great success, and we look forward to a wonderful new school year together.”
