Sweetwater Center for the Arts will reopen next week with a modified summer schedule.

The Sewickley institution closed in March due to the covid-19 pandemic. According to an email from Executive Director Thomas Walters, Sweetwater will open July 6 using safety practices developed with a group of 50 regional cultural organizations.

Employees will wear masks and the nonprofit will intensify cleaning. Social distancing will be maintained through increased spacing, small groups, limited interaction between groups and staggered scheduling.

The Summer Sweet Jazz Series and the center’s summer camps will kick of the reopening. Summer camps will be held for six weeks, with opportunities for children and teens. More information and registration is available at https://sweetwaterartcenter.org/category/summer-camps/.

The Summer Sweet Jazz Series started with a free concert June 26 at Sewickley Riverfront Park. It continues Thursday nights at the center, with patrons able to purchase a table to share with friends and family. Information and tickets can be found at https://sweetwaterartcenter.org/upcoming-events/.
