Christmas will be arriving early as the Sewickley Valley Chamber of Commerce hosts its annual Christmas in July event.
Shoppers will be able to take advantage of sales up to 80% off happening in the business district along Beaver Street from July 25 to 31. There will be plenty to explore as 35 professional services, retailers and restaurants will be participating in the sidewalk sale.
“This is a great time of the year to come out and attract a lot of folks to our businesses,” said Diana Kauffman, president of the chamber and owner of Diana Kauffman Designs.
Kauffman said the chamber had to cancel many events last year because of covid, and the restrictions in place caused many businesses to suffer as well.
“All the businesses are interdependent on each other, so if restaurants aren’t doing well and bringing people in then retailers and professional services suffer too,” Kauffman said.
Two other events will also happen during the multi-day event.
A Sundae 5K and Fun Walk is planned for July 25 beginning at 10 a.m. The race invites folks of all ages to participate to win prizes, receive free sundaes and race towels and enjoy a foam party. Kauffman said proceeds from Sundae 5K will go towards lighting up the business district during the holiday season.
Sewickley’s Night Mart will be from 6-9 p.m. July 30. The free event will feature live music, food trucks, 19 various artisans and a pop-up craft beer bar.
“We are really excited to do this and give people a reason to come out. Every customer matters,” Kauffman said.
Individual hours will vary for businesses during the sale. For more information, visit sewickleychamberofcommerce.org.
