Sewickley Public Library open for express service, virtual events
Sewickley Public Library, 500 Thorn St., is again offering express library services.
The Express Library gives users a chance to come into the library to browse the collection, check out items and use the public computers. The library is taking precautions to ensure the safety of library staff and patrons, including requiring masks for all patrons, increasing cleaning and sanitizing of highly used areas, offering hours for high-risk individuals and limiting visit times.
Curbside pickup is still available.
For the latest updates or to register for virtual events, call 412-741-6920 or visit sewickleylibrary.org.
The library will be closed Feb. 15 in observance of Presidents’ Day.
Write Now
The Writer’s Group is now meeting online. Participants enjoy writing from prompts in an encouraging and supportive [virtual] atmosphere. The group will meet from 10 a.m.-noon Feb. 12 via Zoom. You do not need an account to participate. Register online.
Book Buzz: Video Book Reviews
Each Sunday at noon, a new video is uploaded to the library’s YouTube channel featuring book reviews and discussions from its reference librarians.
Winter Fun Craft To-Go Kits
Stop by the curbside table at the library’s rear entrance to pick up a special Winter Fun themed Craft To-Go Kit! Supplies and instructions are included. Kits are available while supplies last: first come, first serve.
Sora student reading app
All Quaker Valley School District students have access to Sora by OverDrive. The student-focused reading app gets age-appropriate ebooks and audiobooks directly into the hands of students from grades K-12.
In addition, the Sora app gives all students access to the public library’s ebook collections, too. Simply add the Sewickley Public Library to your student’s list of libraries in the Sora app when logged into their account. Users will be able to search their school and Allegheny County’s digital collections, check out items and read materials all through one app. Students don’t even need to have a library card. They can access the collection with their school login.
There are never any late fees for digital materials. When an item is due, it disappears from your child’s device.
