Sewickley Public Library, 500 Thorn St., is not open to the public and is offering only remote services and curbside pickup.

To schedule curbside pickup, fill out the form online requesting the items you want, select a date and time and pick up the items at the scheduled time. When you arrive at the library to pick up your materials, park in the lot behind the library. Your materials will be placed on a table near the rear entrance to the library. Items will be placed in plastic bags and ready for you to take.

American Star Library

Each year, Library Journal, the oldest and most respected professional library publication, reviews data on libraries across the country, spotlighting the best of the best across America. The Sewickley Public Library is fortunate to join in the rankings for 2020 as an American Star Library.

The LJ’s national designation is awarded to U.S. public libraries for their success in public library service. The ratings are determined by measuring areas of library usage including physical circulation, circulation of electronic materials, library visits, program attendance, public internet computer use, Wi-Fi session use and — new to the 2020 rankings — use of online databases.

More than 5,600 libraries qualified to be rated this year. The Sewickley Public Library is one of only 262 libraries nationwide and one of only seven libraries in Pennsylvania to achieve the designation.

The Great Backyard Bird Count Storytime

Join the library at 11 a.m. Feb. 5 for a special storytime with Allegheny Land Trust all about the Great Backyard Bird Count. We’ll read stories about birds, learn about counting birds in our own backyard and make a birdfeeder for your own backyard. Register for the program on Event Keeper or call the Children’s Department to arrange a kit pick-up.

Winter Fun Craft To-Go Kits

Stop by the curbside table at the library’s rear entrance to pick up a special Winter Fun themed Craft To-Go Kit! Supplies and instructions are included. Kits are available while supplies last: first come, first serve.

Sora student reading app

All Quaker Valley School District students have access to Sora by OverDrive. The student-focused reading app gets age-appropriate ebooks and audiobooks directly into the hands of students from grades K-12.

In addition, the Sora app gives all students access to the public library’s ebook collections, too. Simply add the Sewickley Public Library to your student’s list of libraries in the Sora app when logged into their account. Users will be able to search their school and Allegheny County’s digital collections, check out items and read materials all through one app. Students don’t even need to have a library card. They can access the collection with their school login.

There are never any late fees for digital materials. When an item is due, it disappears from your child’s device.

For more information, contact the Children’s Department at 412-741-0937.
