Some of the Quaker Valley School District students who were recognized for performing at PMEA festivals this spring.

Several Quaker Valley musicians were recognized for being selected to play in the Pennsylvania Music Educators Association (PMEA) festivals this spring.

PMEA Elementary Band Fest: sixth-graders Caden Hanna, alto saxophone; Hannah Olawaiye, clarinet; Lena Rothbauer, flute; Michael Semonik, trumpet.

PMEA Jr. High District Band: Evan James, seventh grade, baritone; Charlotte Liao, eighth grade, French horn; Asher Muretisch, eighth grade, oboe; Joey Nastasi, eighth grade, trombone; Bradley Semonik, eighth grade, alto saxophone.

PMEA Jr. High District Chorus: Charlotte Liao, eighth grade, alto; Rose Pocasangre, seventh grade, alto.

Edgeworth Elementary School: Ava Franus, trombone; Ellie Ravenstahl, clarinet.

Osborne Elementary School: Savannah Jordan, trumpet; Cate Leghorn, clarinet.

Marissa Patton of Sewickley was among more than 500 master’s and doctoral degrees conferred at the University of Scranton’s graduate commencement ceremony on May 21. Degrees were conferred to graduates who had completed their academic degree requirements in August and December of 2021, as well as January and May of 2022. Patton earned a master of health administration degree in health administration from The University of Scranton.

Sophia Besterman, a junior at Bloomsburg University studying international business, was named to the Dean’s List for the spring 2022 semester.
