Following a tumultuous summer that included a leadership change, the firing of four administrators and one teacher, a lawsuit and a divided community of parents, school is back in session at Sewickley Academy.

The first day for students was Sept. 2.

“We are excited about the 2021-2022 school year. The positive energy was contagious on the first day of school as we welcomed our students and families back to campus,” said interim head of school Ashley Birtwell. “I witnessed an incredible enthusiasm for learning as I walked through the hallways and classrooms, and students are enjoying being outside together. As a community, we gathered on Friday (Sept. 3) for an all-school assembly to properly kick off the start of school, which concluded with our traditional outdoor popsicle celebration. The past two days are a testament to the wonderful community we have at Sewickley Academy and our commitment to the success of our students.”
