The 64 members of Sewickley Academy’s class of 2022 received their diplomas on June 9 at the school’s Events Center. Four graduates received special recognition for their achievements prior to the presentation of diplomas.

• Ashley Glabicki of Sewickley received the Faculty Award for consistently displaying a cheerful and mature attitude, unselfish service to the entire school community and a sincere concern for others.

• Rohan Shah of Gibsonia was honored with the Academy Award, which is given by the Board of Trustees to recognize a senior who exemplifies the distinguishing qualities of moral goodness and perseverance, and who has shown a sincere commitment to academic pursuits throughout his time at Sewickley Academy.

• Brooke Kries of Sewickley was awarded the Head of School Award, which recognizes a senior whose service and accomplishments in academic, athletic, and/or extracurricular activities have made a significant contribution to the life of the school and who best exemplifies the ideals and spirit of Sewickley Academy.

• Gary Peng of Mars earned the Cavalier Cup for distinguishing himself as best all-around graduate by achieving a record of combined excellence in scholarship, sportsmanship, and citizenship in the estimation of the school’s faculty.

Additionally, nine members of the class earned certificates of completion for the academy’s Global Studies program. Other awards were given on May 16 during the annual Senior School awards ceremony, including the induction of 13 members of the class into Sewickley Academy’s chapter of The Cum Laude Society.

Several parents had the pleasure of presenting diplomas to their children, including Michael Cesario, Interim Head of Senior School, to Cara and Mia Cesario; Ms. Jing Zhou, Senior School faculty to Elim Chen; Holly Hilberg Haddad, Lower School faculty, to Megan Hilberg; Jonathan Riddle, Middle School faculty, to Lincoln Riddle; and Brendan Schneider, Director of Advancement, to Ian Schneider.

Attendees were treated to musical performances from the academy’s Senior School orchestra, string orchestra and chorus, all under the direction of Brian Buckley.

Of the 64 students that comprise Sewickley Academy’s Class of 2022, 63 are attending college in the fall, which includes 45 different schools in 19 states and Washington, D.C. The class includes the following graduates with their hometown after each name:
