Several Quaker Valley area communities reorganize leadership

Many Quaker Valley area communities have their newly-elected officials sworn in as well as council and commission leaders appointed.

Aleppo

Commissioner Judith Haluka was sworn in to her second term by outgoing Magistrate Robert Ford, and Commissioner Arthur Williams was sworn in to his third term by new Magistrate Giuseppe Rosselli Jan. 2.

George Jones was appointed commission president and Williams was named vice president at the reorganization meeting.

Harlan Stone of Babst Calland was named township solicitor. Ben Gilberti of HRG Engineering was appointed township engineer.

Workshop meetings are the second Monday of the month and legislative meetings are the third Monday of the month, both at 7 p.m. at the borough building, 100 North Drive.

Leet

Judge Rosselli swore in Martin C. McDaniel, Donna Adipietro and Martin P. Zimmel as township commissioners Jan. 2.

He also swore in Betsy Rengers as township manager/code enforcement officer, Terry Soster as zoning hearing board member, Bob Gulush as civil service commission member and Charles Frederick as township tax collector.

McDaniel was appointed commission president and Dan Peluso as vice president.

Steve Chesney was retained as township solicitor. Lennon Smith Souleret Engineering was named Leet’s engineering firm.

Workshop meetings remain the fourth Monday of the month at 4 p.m. and voting sessions the second Monday of the month at 7 p.m. both at the township building, 194 Ambridge Ave.

Leetsdale

Mayor Sandra Ford swore in new council members Ben Frederick and Scott Zahner and incumbent Roger Nanni at a reorganization meeting Jan. 2.

Maria Napolitano and Osman Awad were reappointed as president and vice president, respectively.

Attorney Daniel Conlon was retained as borough solicitor and Dan Slagle remains borough engineer.

Workshop meetings are the fourth Thursday of the month and voting sessions are the second Thursday of the month both at 7 p.m. at the borough building, 373 Beaver St.

Sewickley Hills

Mayor David Malarik swore in Michael Lepore and Hunter Hopkins to their new four-year seats on Jan. 2.

Joseph Hajnas was appointed president and Lepore was named vice president.

Andrew Shannon of Robb Leonard Mulvihill was named borough solicitor. Emile Ketterer of NIRA Engineering was named borough engineer.

Council workshops are the fourth Tuesday of the month and voting sessions are the second Tuesday of the month both at 7:30 p.m. at the borough building, 349 Magee Road.

Responses from Sewickley Heights and Bell Acres were not in at press time.

Edgeworth’s reorganization was postponed until Jan. 16 due to a lack of a quorum, borough manager John Schwend said.

Sewickley borough manager Donna Kaib said her town’s reorganization will take place Jan. 9, shortly before council’s regular meeting.
