Quaker Valley School District hires new high school assistant principal
A former Peters Township School District administrator was named the new Quaker Valley High School assistant principal.
Scott Orelli of Pittsburgh formally became a Quaker this month.
The board ratified his hiring Aug. 22 right before the new school year started.
“I am honored and grateful for the opportunity to bring my experience and passion for education to Quaker Valley,” Orelli said. “The emphasis on excellence, innovation and building meaningful relationships deeply resonates with me. I have felt very welcomed from day one, and I consider it a privilege to join this school community. I am most thrilled to get to know our students and families and work together to help all students design their best future.”
Orelli most recently served as Peters Township’s science department content facilitator where he taught AP environmental science, academic physics, academic and honors chemistry and delivered professional development.
He served on several boards and leadership positions within Intermediate Unit 1, which serves schools in Fayette, Greene and Washington counties, including the Southwest Cohort of Pennsylvania Science Education Leadership (PennSEL) Network to ease the rollout of STEELS standards statewide.
Orelli also worked as a Spring Ford Area High School science teacher and as a summer program instructor and mentor through The Readiness Institute at Penn State.
He replaced former assistant principal Dawn Hardman, who resigned over the summer to take a job outside the district.
Principal Deborah Riccobelli was among the first district leaders to welcome Orelli into his new role.
“I am excited to welcome Mr. Orelli to our school community as the newest addition to Quaker Valley High School,” said Riccobelli. “Mr. Orelli brings a wealth of experience that will undoubtedly enhance our students’ educational journey. His innovative ideas, collaborative spirit, and commitment to student success will greatly contribute to the growth and development of QVHS. I know I speak for the whole school in saying we look forward to the positive impact he will have on our staff and students.”
District officials said there are 585 students enrolled at the high school. Orelli’s starting salary is $93,400.
