A section of Camp Meeting Road in Bell Acres is closed indefinitely due to a landslide, the Allegheny County Department of Public Works announced Friday.

Heavy rains on July 11 caused mud, rock and other debris to slide down the hillside onto the road, which is closed between Beech Ridge Drive and Fern Hollow Road.

In addition to cleaning up debris from the landslide, officials have hired a consultant to help determine what work will be needed to correct the problem to ensure the road is safe for travel.

No timetable has been set for when the road is expected to be reopened.

Officials said they are still working on a detour to direct motorists around the area of the slide.
