More Quaker Valley area governments organize their leadership for the year

More Quaker Valley area communities welcomed their newly-elected officials as well as appointed their council leaders.

Bell Acres

Mayor Kenneth Alvania swore in Christopher Abell, Lane Grafton and Gregory Molchen to their new council seats.

This will be Abell’s fifth term, Grafton’s second and Molchen’s first term.

David Renfrew was appointed council president and Brock Meanor was named vice president.

Attorney Robert Max Junker of Babst Calland Clements and Zomnir was named solicitor.

Shoup Engineering was named borough engineer.

Meetings are the second Monday of the month at 6 p.m., unless that is a federal holiday, at the Big Sewickley Creek Fire Hall, 1850 Big Sewickley Creek Road.

Meetings will be the Tuesday after the holiday at the same time and place if necessary.

Sewickley

Mayor George Shannon swore in Bridgett Bates, Tom Rostek, Julie Barnes and Cynthia Mullins to their new council seats.

Mullins was reappointed as council president, Barnes as vice president and Rostek as president pro tem.

Donna Kaib was retained as borough manager/secretary.

Sherry Clarke was appointed borough treasurer.

Nathaniel Boring of Sherrard German & Kelly was retained as borough solicitor.

Gateway Engineers was retained as borough engineers.

PLGIT and First National Bank were designated borough depositories.

Meetings are the second Tuesday of the month at 6:30 p.m. at the borough building, 601 Thorn Street.

Sewickley Heights

Mayor George J. Magovern Jr. swore in John Means, Thomas McCargo and Michael Bollinger to their new council seats.

Means was reappointed president and Craig Kinney as vice president.

Laura W. Stone was named solicitor and Danial Deiseroth was named engineer.

Meetings are the third Monday at 4:30 p.m. at the borough building, 238 Country Club Road.

Edgeworth council was expected to reorganize at its Jan. 16 meeting.
