Every other day, I see a letter here with some other ridiculous reason why we should not build a new Quaker Valley High School. Yesterday it was dirt, last month it was coffee shops.

The major flaw with this is, years ago, it had already been proven that it’s not feasible to build on the current site. The ship has sailed we are long past the discussion phase. We are just about to the actual building phase, finally.

See, I am a legacy of sorts – my whole family went to Quaker Valley. My dad graduated in 1969, my aunts and uncles through the ’70s. My siblings, cousins and I, through the late ’90s into the 2000s. My own son just graduated in 2020. That’s three generations.

Do you know what we all have in common being QV grads? We all needed a new high school. That’s 50 plus years of kids needing a new school.

We need to stop trying to go backward with all these letters. Let’s move forward for our kids and teachers who deserve a school that is not falling around them.

Get out of your time machine and into 2021 – it’s finally happening.
