Antioch Baptist Church

Beth Samuel Jewish Center

Beth Samuel Jewish Center offers weekly Shabbat services, family services once a month and Kabbalat Shabbat services online once per month. There is also Religious School every Sunday.

First Friday: Family Service at 7 p.m. in the sanctuary, followed by an Oneg in the social hall.

Shabbat Morning Services: Saturday mornings at 10 a.m. in the sanctuary, followed by a Kiddush in the social hall.

Kabbalat Shabbat Services: Usually on the third Friday of the month, at 7 p.m. on Zoom. Contact the office for the link. This get-together frequently includes a visiting musician, cantor, rabbi or other noteworthy guest.

Divine Redeemer Parish

Divine Redeemer Parish celebrates weekend Masses at 4:30 p.m. Saturdays at St. James Church and 5 p.m. at St. Mary Church in Aleppo. Sunday Masses are celebrated at 8 and 11 a.m. at St. James and 9:30 a.m. at St. Mary. Weekday Masses and Adoration are celebrated as well. An Italian Mass sponsored by the Sewickley Chapter of the Sons of Italy will be celebrated at 7 p.m. Sept. 23 at St. James Church. All are welcome.

The Sleeping mats to Plarn Society is inviting you to a plarning workshop in the Gathering Space (overlooking the parking lot) at St. James Church on Sept.26 from 11 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. Cutters and/or crocheters are needed to cut plastic grocery bags. Bring scissors and/or a ‘N’hook, and your stash of plastic bags — bags are available to share if you need them. No advanced skills are needed. Call Joanne at 412-741-2368 with questions.

Join the church Sunday morning for a traditional service of Holy Communion at 10:15 a.m. and on First Saturdays at 4 p.m. for a quiet contemplative service of prayer and Holy Communion. Morning Prayer services are every Monday, Tuesday, Thursday and Friday at 8 a.m.

Sewickley United Methodist Church

The Sewickley United Methodist Church has two services each Sunday: 9 a.m. contemporary, featuring our praise band Leap of Faith; and 11 a.m. traditional, with nursery care and children’s ministries during both services. The church is a reconciling congregation and openly welcomes all people.

St. Brendan’s Episcopal Church

St. Brendan’s is an open, welcoming and active church that holds in-person worship with Eucharist at 8 a.m. and 10 a.m. Sundays and 6 p.m. Wednesdays. Nursery coverage is available for children at the Sunday 10 o’clock service, which is live-streamed on YouTube. The next monthly Children’s Service will be 10 a.m. Sept. 22, when young members will serve as readers, acolytes and ushers during the liturgy.

Brendan’s Boots, the parish walking group, will hold its next outing at Fall Run Park in Shaler on Sept. 19, after meeting at the church at 9 a.m. The group will follow the trail that features Allegheny County’s tallest waterfall and winds through a shady, wooded ravine. Lunch will follow at Bonefish Grill in McCandless Crossing.

In September the parish is collecting breakfast items — cereal, pancake mix and syrup, plain and flavored oatmeal, juice boxes and bags of ground coffee — for the North Hills Food Pantry. Donations may be left in the church lobby.

This month’s Taize will take place on Sept. 25 at 6 p.m. The quiet service offers an opportunity for reflection, meditation and calm after a busy day.

St. Brendan’s Adopt-a-Highway crew will perform its third litter cleanup of the year at 8:30 a.m. Sept. 28 at the Camp Horne Road interchange of I-279 in Ohio Township. Anyone age 14 and up may take part.

The Book Club will discuss “American Sirens” by Kevin Hazzard at 1 p.m. Oct. 7 in the library. The book details the extraordinary story of the Black men in Pittsburgh who became America’s first paramedics.

Morning Prayer is offered at 8 a.m. Monday through Friday via Zoom. Bible Study is held at 11 a.m. Tuesdays via Zoom. Contact the office for links.

The annual rummage sale is scheduled for Sept. 20 and 21. Hours are noon to 7 p.m. Friday and 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. Saturday.

St. Stephen’s Anglican Church

Fall 2024 programming and events are now open for all ages including students, men’s and women’s groups, prayer groups, Bible and book studies, children’s programming and more.

Fall Fest will be held from 6 to 8 p.m. Sept. 27. The event is for all ages and free to the community. There will be a bounce house, crafts, an outdoor movie, food, drinks and more.

On Wednesdays beginning Sept. 25 from 6:30 to 8 p.m., various Midweek Community options that focus on the essentials of life in Christ and pertinent interests we face in our daily lives are offered. Featured this year will be “The Anxious Generation” by J. Haidt, “Hearing God” by D. Willard, “Christian Practices” by S. Hornbostel, and study/discussion on the Common Book of Prayer.
