Historical Society talk
Sewickley Valley Historical Society invites you to join us at 7 p.m. Nov. 9 when we present Dr. Connie Ruzich and her work “Why We Remember: Lost Voices of World War I.”
Ruzich, a 2014-2015 Fulbright Scholar at the University of Exeter and professor of English at Robert Morris University, will share photographs, letters, poems and other first-hand accounts from the First World War. Rather than focusing on military strategies and battles, the presentation will instead look at the stories and experiences of people who lived through the world’s first industrial war and will explore the question: Why do we commemorate past wars?
Ruzich will also share her research into the use of poetry in British centenary commemorations of the First World War.
The event is free and open to the public. Participants can join in person at the Old Sewickley Post Office or on Zoom. Additional information can be found at www.sewickleyhistory.org
