Sustainable Sewickley wrapping

This holiday season, let Sustainable Sewickley help you save time and reduce landfill waste. Sustainable Sewickley board members will be at 422 Broad St., rear (behind Genisys Body Arts) on Dec. 17 from 11 a.m.-4 p.m. to wrap all of your holiday gifts. Sustainable options will include recycled craft paper, fresh greens, and Furoshiki, or Japanese fabric wraps. If you have fabric remnants that you would be willing to donate, please drop them off at 921 Beaver St. by Dec. 15.

Rotary scholarships

The Bob Williams Rotary Memorial Scholarship Program has scholarships available for the 2022-23 academic year. In recent years, at least eight scholarships at $5,000 each have been awarded. High school seniors in Allegheny and Beaver Counties are eligible to apply. Vocational students, G.E.D students and those attending parochial, charter and private schools are also eligible.

Students must have a 2.5 or higher grade point average and also must complete an essay, which highlights their community/school service, as part of the application submission.

Business Connection

The Greater Pittsburgh Business Connection, a referral group of business professionals, will meet Dec. 21 at Eat’n Park on Route 60 in Robinson for breakfast from 7:15 to 8:30 a.m. Speakers will be Bill Forde of Keller Williams Commercial Properties and Nick Hollinger of Patriot Lending. Senior Men’s Club

An affiliate of the Sewickley Valley YMCA, the Senior Men’s Club will host Jacki Smathers doing a SingSingSing Christmas performance on Dec. 16. For more information, visit smensclub.org or Facebook.com/smensclub.

Sewickley Public Library events

Sewickley Public Library hosts Block Party, a family program from 10:30 a.m. to noon Dec. 17 at 500 Thorn St. It is designed for children ages birth to 6 years old with their parents or caregivers. Participants can play, build, read and learn together with blocks. No registration is required.

Sahaja Meditation is scheduled for 11 a.m. to noon Dec. 17 at the library. Enjoy the silence, peace and stress release that is part of the free weekly meditation program. Newcomers are welcome. No registration is required.

Evening French is scheduled for 6:30-7:30 p.m. Dec. 19 at the library. The group meets in person and online and is designed for those who have an intermediate knowledge of French. Registration is required for those who want to participate via Zoom.
