Sewickley man receives Wealth Manager Award

Peter F. Schlicht, vice president and financial advisor of a financial/private wealth advisory practice of Ameriprise Financial Services, LLC in Sewickley, has been named a recipient of the 2022 Five Star Wealth Manager award by Five Star Professional. The award goes to less than seven percent of the wealth managers in the region based on research administered by Five Star Professional, a third-party research firm.

Schlicht graduated from Penn State with a degree bachelor of science in economics as well as an MBA from Duquesne University. He has 10 years of experience serving clients with Ameriprise Financial and 22 years in the financial services industry.

Schlicht is a 38-year resident of Sewickley. He has served on Sewickley Borough council and the board of directors of the Sewickley YMCA. Schlicht currently serves on the board of Sweetwater Center for the Arts and as president of the Valley Care Association, which operates an adult day services center in Ambridge.

Woman’s Club of Sewickley Valley

The Woman’s Club of Sewickley Valley is opening its season with the traditional Afternoon Tea on Aug. 29. The season includes wonderful offerings, great lunches and the opportunity to make some great friends. The club meets at the Edgeworth Club, with lunch served at noon and the program to follow at 1 pm. The Woman’s Club is not limited to the Quaker Valley area – members from any geographical area are welcome. R.S.V.P to the Edgeworth Club at 412-741-8500 is required by the Friday before the program.

Aug. 29, Solving the medical mystery – A comical but informative program helping us decide when we need an ambulance, urgent care, or can wait for our doctor. It will also give information regarding some of the most common diagnostic testing. Presented by Judy Haluka.

Sept. 12, Shhhh, it is a secret – Presented by Karyn Locke, author of “Secret Pittsburgh”

Oct. 24, Who are You? Halloween costume party – Although encouraged, costumes are not required.

Nov. 14, Virtual Walking Tour – Presented by Tim Merrill, Sewickley Historical Society

Sewickley council

Sewickley council will meet at 7 p.m. Aug. 9 at the borough building, 601 Thorn St. Agendas are usually posted the day before the meeting online at sewickleyborough.org.

Leet commissioners

Leet’s board of commissioners will meet at 7 p.m. Aug. 8 at the township office, 194 Ambridge Ave. The agenda is expected to be posted at least a day prior to the meeting online at leettownship.org.

Music Explorer Camp

Allegheny Music Academy’s Music Explorer Camp will take place 1 to 5:30 p.m. Aug. 15-19 at St. Stephen’s Church.

Campers ages 7-14 are welcome. Cost is $340, with 10% off if paid by July 15.

Renowned faculty will teach brass, woodwind, percussion, guitar, ukulele, keyboard, strings, choir and more. Each student participates in small group lessons with instruments provided by Volkwein’s Music.

Senior Men’s Club

An affiliate of the Sewickley Valley YMCA, the Senior Men’s Club topic on Aug. 5 will be Michael Nahas, Esq., discussing estate planning, wills and trusts.
