Ben Avon house tour
The Avon Club’s 2021 Ben Avon Holiday House Tour will be Dec. 4. A daylight tour will take place 10 a.m.-4 p.m., and a candlelight tour is from 6-9 p.m. The homes chosen represent a wide variety of architectural styles and designs, and special attention has been paid to preserving the original character of each house. Each home is beautifully decorated to not only honor the historical features of the home, but also to demonstrate the unique style and taste of the homeowners. The tour features seven unique and beautiful homes in Ben Avon. Guests also will be provided with a detailed history of the homes, providing a fascinating look back into times past. Tickets are $25 in advance and $30 the day of for the daylight tour and $30 in advance and $35 the day of for the candlelight tour.

Cochran Hose Company holiday events
Santa at the Station will take place 11 a.m.-3 p.m. Dec. 5.
There will be fire truck rides, snacks, crafts, holiday-themed fire prevention and of course, Santa! This is a free event for the whole family, but Cochran Hose Company will be collecting new, unwrapped toys for Toys for Tots.
• The annual Toys for Tots drive is also underway. New, unwrapped toys can be dropped off at Sewickley Crazy Mocha, The Ultimate Pastry Shop, Fun by the Pound and the Bridgeside Market during normal business hours until Dec. 5. The Cochran Hose Company will be collecting toys at the intersection of Beaver and Division streets during Light Up Night on Dec. 3.
Ryan Shazier book signing
Nearly four years after an errant tackle left him paralyzed below the waist, former Pittsburgh Steeler Ryan Shazier has written “Walking Miracle.” It is the story of his comeback, but also a book of life’s lessons, challenges and a love letter to the power of positive thinking.
Penguin Book Shop will host Shazier during Sewickley’s Light Up Night on Dec. 3 for a special in-store appearance to celebrate the release of his book. Attendees will receive a pre-signed copy of “Walking Miracle” and an opportunity to meet and get their photo taken with him.
Pre-registration is required to guarantee your signed book and photo opportunity. Timed tickets will be available in 15-minute increments to allow for social distancing. Old Economy Village Christmastime tours
Old Economy Village in Ambridge will be hosting Christmastime for Children Tours through Dec. 22. The tours are designed for preschool through third grade. This program is an hour and a half long.
The first hour consists of five tour stops in the village. The last half hour is a party with Belsnickel (the German helper of St. Nicholas who is the keeper of the naughty and nice books). Train Show
Ohio Valley Lines Model Railroad will hold a series of open house events: Dec. 4-5, Dec. 11-12, Dec. 18-28, Dec. 26, Jan. 1-2 and Jan. 8-9.
