Members of the Riverview Community Action Corporation are readying themselves for a change in leadership after Mary Margaret Fisher announced her retirement as RCAC’s executive director.
Her last day will be July 31.
“We are grateful for all of Mary Margaret’s efforts as well as the time she gave us to conduct an extensive search for a new executive director to drive our strategic plan for growth and sustainability,” said RCAC board president Thomas Whalen.
Fisher has served in various capacities for the RCAC. She was appointed in January of 2024 as executive director. Before that, she was named the corporation’s program coordinator in 2020, according to her LinkedIn page.
During a June 24 meeting, RCAC board members unanimously approved the appointment of Barbara Miller as the new executive director beginning Aug. 1.
Miller has more than 35 years of experience in nonprofit leadership. She comes to the RCAC from the an executive director role at the Washington Area Senior Citizens Center in Washington County.
“A nationally recognized speaker, Miller is a certified trainer in a variety of areas from accredited national associations, as well as Temple University, Indiana University of PA and NeighborWorks,” a statement from the RCAC said.
Miller has a long history of leadership and strategic planning.
“We are fortunate to have found a new executive director whose experience has demonstrated the flexibility and tenacity needed to help RCAC broaden our community engagement, pursue new fund-raising strategies and develop programming to grow enrollment,” said Paul Winkler, chair of RCAC’s search committee.
Established in 1996, the RCAC promotes community involvement and awareness through various services and programs meant to enhance the quality of life of the residents of Oakmont, Verona and surrounding communities.
