Richland, Pine named banner communities
Richland has been recognized as a banner community for the 11th consecutive year.
The township board of supervisors announced this distinction during the correspondence portion of their May 15 meeting.
Township manager Dean Bastianini read a letter from Allegheny County Council District 2 representative Suzanne Filiaggi commending community leaders for their efforts.
“We’ve been designated as a banner community since the program’s inception. It’s another feather in the township’s cap so we appreciate the recognition,” Bastianini said.
The Allegheny League of Municipalities is responsible for designating communities as banner communities.
The banner community program recognizes municipalities that distinguish themselves as model communities through their outstanding commitment to professional development, prudent fiscal management, transparency, accountability and proactive communications to engage community stakeholders.
Pine also received the honor for 2024 as a longtime recipient, according to the ALOM website.
