Pine Community Center will host a pair of events on Sept. 14.

Get ready for Revving Into Reading.

That’s the theme for festivities scheduled from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Sept. 14, when the grand opening of Northern Tier Regional Library’s Pine Center runs in conjunction with a Touch-a-Truck event.

More than 15 trucks and other vehicles will be parked outside the Pine Community Center for youngsters to see and climb into, while learning more about them. Touch-a-Truck is from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m., with a quiet time during the first hour for children with sensory disorders.

Activities for youngsters include a scavenger hunt and hand painting on a Pine public works snowplow. Vendors with food and coffee will be on site.

The ribbon-cutting ceremony for the library’s new location inside the Community Center is at noon. Offered will be a core book collection and a rotation of new selections each month, with titles for all ages, and library clubs include Pining for Books, along with Coffee and Crime.

A “Library Leaders” youth ambassador program is being established, with the library and Pine Township seeking 20 Pine-Richland School District students in fourth through 12th grades to join. They will have access to exclusive offers such as welcome gifts, a book dedicated to the library in their honor, special celebrations and helping to choose programs available at the Pine Center.

Participants can log volunteer hours while gaining leadership experience. Apply at forms.gle/fHm3qaE9p9P7SzCA9.

Regular hours at the Pine Center start Sept. 16: Monday, 9 a.m. to 5 p.m.; Tuesday, closed; Wednesday, 9 a.m. to 5 p.m.; Thursday, 11 a.m. to 7 p.m.; Friday, closed; Saturday, 9 a.m. to 2 p.m.; Sunday, closed.
