A 16-year-old boy was shot to death Saturday in Uniontown and police are charging a teenage girl with the crime, according to Tribune-Review news partner WTAE-TV.

Police responded to the incident at about 3:15 p.m. on Wilson Avenue.

The name of the victim has not yet been released.

Uniontown Lt. Thomas Kolencik told WTAE that the boy was pronounced dead at the scene.

The suspect, 14, also has not yet been identified by police but she is cooperating with the investigation, officials said.

She is in custody and will be charged with involuntary manslaughter and firearms-related charges.

A hearing will be scheduled.

Kolencik said that the girl was playing with the handgun, which she thought was a BB gun, when it went off.

Another teenage boy was in the house but fled. He was located and likely will not be charged, police said.
