A state corrections officer from Camp Hill is charged with contacting a 14-year-old-girl in Fayette County to set up a sexual encounter.

Calvin Hynson, 26, is suspended without pay while awaiting a preliminary hearing Wednesday before District Judge Nathan Henning. He is free after posting $100,000 bond.

The State Attorney General’s Office charged Hynson with unlawful contact with a minor, attempted sexual assault of a minor under age 16, possession of child pornography and criminal use of a communication facility.

Authorities took Hynson into custody May 22 in the parking lot of the Ramada Inn in South Union Township. According to court documents, Hynson admitted to investigators that he’d been communicating with the girl, that he rented a room at the Ramada to visit her and that they planned to have sex.

The documents indicate Hynson told authorities he’d had sex with the girl while meeting her at a different hotel several weeks earlier, when he believed she was an adult.

The girl’s father found out about the relationship and called Hynson, telling him the girl was 14 and to leave her alone, according to investigators.

Hynson told authorities he continued to have contact with the girl after learning she was a minor, that he considered her to be his girlfriend and that he wanted to move to be closer to her.

A search of Hynson’s cell phone revealed nude images of the girl and confirmed that he’d had sexually explicit conversations with her, court documents state. Authorities said Hynson admitted giving the girl a cell phone and sending her nude images of himself.

Court documents show Hynson is represented by Samir Sarna, an attorney with the Pittsburgh firm Worgul Sarna & Ness. Managing partner Mike Worgul said the firm would not comment on an active case.
