A Saxonburg man is being held in the Butler County jail on $100,000 bond after a police chase in Butler County on Sunday.

State police said an officer tried to stop Alexander John Lefever, 25, for a traffic violation on South Clearfield Road south of Route 422 in Clearfield Township shortly after 2 a.m. Sunday.

Police said Lefever fled, and police chased.

Lefever lost control of his vehicle during the chase and hit a state police vehicle, police said. Lefever allegedly continued to flee and was eventually stopped.

Police said Lefever was under the influence of alcohol and was arrested.

Lefever faces felony charges of flight to avoid apprehension and fleeing or attempting to elude an officer, DUI charges, disorderly conduct and several summary traffic offenses including driving an unregistered vehicle and driving without a valid inspection.

Lefever is scheduled for a preliminary hearing at 1:30 p.m. June 18, according to court records.
