WTAE reporter David Kaplan announced Wednesday, Aug. 25, 2021, he is leaving the TV station. Kaplan’s final day will be Aug. 31.

Reporter David Kaplan is leaving WTAE after six years as a journalist in Pittsburgh.

Kaplan made the announcement on his verified Twitter account.

“This town cares deeply about the neighborhood, (and) it was always a priority for me to capture that,” Kaplan wrote Wednesday evening. “Not quite ready to say what may be next, but will look forward to continuing to report. It’s what I love.”

Kaplan said his final day will be Aug. 31.
