Come this spring, there will be one more out-of-town location to grab a Primanti’s sandwich as Primanti Bros. Restaurant and Bar is set to open in Baltimore.

Most of its restaurants are in Western Pennsylvania and there are locations in West Virginia, Ohio and the eastern side of Pennsylvania.

The 43rd location will be in Linthicum Heights, close to Baltimore/Washington International Thurgood Marshall Airport and Downtown Baltimore.

“There’s no better place for Primanti Bros. to continue its expansion than into the Baltimore region,” said Adam Golomb, CEO of Primanti Bros., in a statement. “We’re excited to bring people together at the location in Linthicum. And while we might’ve been born out of Pittsburgh – we know once Baltimore gives us a shot – they’ll love what we do.”

Beyond Pittsburgh, York is one of the strongest locations, according to Golomb. They have also had success in Hagerstown, Md. In each location they have a locally influenced mural. The mural in York, which is near the Maryland border, has the Baltimore Ravens’ Ray Lewis on one side and former Pittsburgh Steelers quarterback Ben Roethlisberger on the other.

“We’ve become the neighborhood restaurant and bar in the locations we’ve come to, embracing the sports teams that are popular in that area,” Golomb said.

They will be more than glad to have Steelers fans at the newest location, “but we will be all in on Ravens; as a diehard Steelers fan it’s like, ‘Are we really going to support the Ravens?’ But we will,” he said.

Primanti Bros. opened in 1933 in the Strip District. At the time, Joe Primanti had a lunch cart and sold sandwiches to truck drivers. He eventually expanded into a brick-and-mortar store with his two brothers and nephew.
