Portugal. The Man, Brittany Howard to play opening celebration at Public Lands in Cranberry
A pair of Grammy-winning musical acts are performing this weekend … at an outdoors store in Cranberry.
Alternative rockers Portugal. The Man and Alabama Shakes vocalist/guitarist Brittany Howard are scheduled to play a free show at 3 p.m. Saturday at the grand opening celebration for Public Lands, a new outdoors-based venture from Dick’s Sporting Goods.
Portugal. The Man is best known for its song “Feel It Still,” which won Best Pop Duo/Group Performance at the Grammys in 2018. The single, which went six-times platinum, has more than 312 million views on YouTube.
Howard is fresh off a Grammy win in March for Best Rock Song for “Stay High” from her solo album, “Jaime.” As a member of Alabama Shakes, she’s won Grammys for Best Rock Performance, Best Rock Song, Best Alternative Music Album and Best American Roots Performance.
The celebration also includes three days of local music acts: Friday’s performances include Jay Wiley at 11:30 a.m., Buffalo Rose at 2 p.m., Dinosoul at 5 p.m. and Andre Costello and the Cool Minors at 7:15 p.m. Saturday’s concerts include Lindsay Liebro at 11:30 a.m., Jakob’s Ferry Stragglers at 1:15 p.m., INEZ at 4:30 p.m. and The Bleepy Things at 7:30 p.m. Sunday closes out the celebration with three performances: Melissa Quinn Fox at 12:30 p.m., Bindley Hardware Co. at 2:30 p.m. and Bikini Islands at 5 p.m.
